Demir came to the table. Paints were waiting there: red, yellow and blue, all in a neat row. He looked from far away, then moved closer. Which colour would he choose?

Demir picked up the red paint. He held it, looked at it and touched it. His finger turned red. “Oh!” he said with a laugh. Red was lovely. He brushed it gently onto the paper, leaving a red mark.

Next came yellow. Yellow was like the sun. Demir held the brush tightly and drew a big circle on the paper. The yellow circle shone. “The sun!” he said happily. It was beautiful.

Now for blue. Blue was like the sky. Demir dipped his brush in the paint and waved it over the paper. Blue drops flew. “Ha ha!” Demir laughed. Blue was such fun.

Red, yellow and blue together. Demir looked at all three on his paper. So many colours! He mixed them with his finger. A new colour appeared. Was it purple or orange? Demir was surprised. It was lovely.

Demir looked at his picture for a long time. It was full of beautiful colours. There was paint on his hands too: red, yellow and blue. He looked at them and laughed. “Look, my hands are a picture too!”

The paints were put away and hands were washed. Water splashed and the colours ran away. Demir looked at his clean hands. His picture dried on the table. He waved to it. “Good night, colours,” he said softly.

Demir lay down in bed and pulled up his blanket. His eyes slowly closed. The colours were still in his mind. Red, yellow and blue danced together. Demir smiled and drifted off to sleep.
